Though largely associated with thickly forested terrain, tigers also
thrive in wet, swampy areas, that provide dense vegetation for cover
and are filled with abundant prey.

Tigers are among the few cats that really like the water, and many
enjoy swimming or lazily floating in the water on a daily basis. The
tiger readily takes to water and is an excellent swimmer. In the
tropical climates where most tigers live, they spend long periods in
water, cooling off on sultry afternoons.

Since tigers have no aversion to water, humans in the wild often find
themselves in danger with no avenue of retreat.
